Google's solution to Android fragmentation coming in 'Froyo'

One of the biggest complaints people have had against the Android platform is the issue of fragmentation.  Well there seems to be good news for all of us.  Google has decided to tackle the fragmentation issue by breaking up the next major update called 'Froyo' into core and first party applications.  What this means is that apps like the keyboard, email app, browser etc will be an addon and not part of the core OS.  Google already does this with google maps, and going forward you should be able to update the keyboard or the browser (or any any other component which is not part of the core OS) by just going to the market and downloading an update.

What this also means is that we will not have to wait for Samsung, HTC, or Motorola to roll out a new firmware for updating our phones or adding new features ! Now doesn't that make us happy ?
